Canings In Kane

Kane 87Kane 87 includes the latest Ask Sarah problem page. This time, a female reader wonders if CP will help resolve marital disputes - and another female asks for advice on getting the most out of a fetish event.

There's also a lengthy feature on the cane by Lucy Bailey - the various types and sizes available plus the best way to use them. And there are CP photo features, fiction, readers letters plus a lively look at spanking around the globe.

On a more sober note, the magazine examines the case of former headmaster Robin Peverett. This man abused his power for years by undressing, spanking and fondling the children he was supposed to care for. He admitted to offences involving nine children, though detectives suspect that there may be hundreds. Incredibly, he was only given an eighteen month suspended sentence for this child abuse.

Men like this shouldn't be confused in any way with the adult CP scene. Those of us who have thought the issues through are a hundred percent opposed to adults hitting children, a blatant abuse of power. We only play with other adults who want the same things as we do - sane, consensual and erotic CP.

Kane costs £10 in the shops but UK mail order customers can save three pounds by sending a £7 cheque or postal order (payable to J Harrison-Marks) to Kane Magazine, Wellington House, 23 Wellington Avenue, Stamford Hill, London N15 6AS.

Rear Entry

Privilege Club 15Bottoms are back in fashion. That's the message which comes loud and clear from Privilege Club 15. Colin Mayo writes passionately about this subject. At last, he says, some women are becoming proud of their, ahem, assets rather than sheepishly asking 'Does my bum look big in this?'

This issue also contains Sarah's article CP Pride And Prejudice which looks at how misunderstood we adult-to-adult spanking fans are. Plus there's fiction, photostories, articles, letters and lots of free contact ads.

Under Wraps

Skin Two 37 Thanks to Skin Two for listing Sarah's titles for Palmprint in the Guidelines section of issue 37. This, their autumn extravaganza, looks at erotic art, fetish models, bondage (one article from a dominant's perspective and one article on Japanese bondage) plus fiction, readers letters, news updates on the American and British BDSM scene and easy-to-enter competitions.

Kane Kristmas Party

Kane are holding a hands-on Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday December 6th from 1pm to 5pm in London. They plan to have around a dozen girls available for spanking, including many of their regular models such as Brandi, Sam Johnson, Lesley, KaraJayne, Sally, Sara and Jay. For queries, please do not hesitate to phone Josie on 020 8802 2555. The cost - which includes a sit down buffet (assuming the girls can still sit down) - is £150.

Service With A Smack

Februs 44Februs 44 contains Sarah's article Are You Being Served? It looks at how high street retailers can embrace - but more often curtail - the availability of CP products. If only we had spanking aficionados managing every store....

In this issue Candi talks at length about how she loves to be stripped and caned - plus there's masses of flagellation fiction, all erotically illustrated by Paula. And there's a heartfelt reader's letter from the very nice Duncan of Kent who still hasn't found a woman to put over his knee.

Februs 44 offers further information gleaned during their recent survey. 62% of readers mentioned CP videos were a regular pleasure but only 10% (bastards!) mentioned books. Respondents talked at length about coming out, about staying hidden and about the type of punishment they looked for in short stories. And lots of readers asked to see Sarah or Julie in the flesh!

What Every Februs Woman Wants

Februs 43Februs 43 explains that every woman who answered their recent survey liked to take the submissive role. They plan to give more results in issue 44.

This issue also includes spanking fiction, letters and Paul Melrose's look at the part Catherine The Great played in flagellation's history.

There's also Sarah's article Off The Beaten Track which explores why people sometimes need a hiatus from CP.

What Every Kane Man Wants

Kane 86Kane 86 has male-to-female and girl-to-girl CP and spanking letters.

This issue's Ask Sarah problem page features a couple who want to enjoy CP whilst abroad on holiday without offending the natives. There's also a heartfelt letter from a man who was spanking his girlfriend when their overnight guests walked in on them.

What Every Fetishist Wants

Skin Two 36 Thanks to Skin Two, summer issue 36, for listing my two Palmprint books in their comprehensive and unique Guidelines section.

This magazine has first class production values and is pure eye candy. The lead features include how to be an eco-friendly fetishist and what it's like to be a fetish model. Click on the cover to go to their site for more details and online subscription.

Play Time

Boys Toys Jul/Aug 2001Corrective Measures is reviewed in the current issue of Boys Toys. They gave the book a *** rating and said:

'Erotic vignettes of hanky-spanky plucked from the section in Waterstones you always see sad bastards hovering around in overcoats. To those not big on submission fantasies, the number of variations on compliant female arses being flogged gives it points for amusement value alone. Just consider She could see both spherical buttocks being unveiled: pale and vulnerable. Duncan had vowed to punish them so they wouldn't stay pale for long.'
- Boys Toys, July/August 2001.

It's encouraging to find a mainstream magazine giving prominence to a CP collection and bravely showing its cover. But Sarah's never sad when hanging out in Waterstones - especially when naked beneath her overcoat.

Good CompanyPrivilege Club 14

Sarah's article You'll Never Walk Alone appears in Privilege Club 14. It explores various so-called sexual perversions and looks at their relationship to CP. This issue also includes fiction, photo stories, four pages of lively correspondence and three pages of spanking contact ads.

What Was New In June 2001

Acceptance

Februs 42Februs 42 contains Out Of The Shadows, Sarah's article about coming to terms with your CP desires - and about one case of repression that ended fatally.

Paula, the editor, looks back at the first four issues of Februs whilst Rachel King and Justine Delange supply the fiction. Meanwhile Darren Young explores the difficulties of finding a good spanking video to warm your machine.

Fulfilment

Desire 36Palmprint's latest offering is reviewed in Desire Issue 36. The magazine also tells you how to make your own porn movies. (Don't all rush at once, now.) And there's a revealing look at Britain's most outrageous strippers. Plus some first class nude photographs and pages of readers contact ads. Desire said:

'Corrective Measures is the second title by sometime Desire contributor Sarah Veitch to be published by this new CP imprint. Coming hot on the heels of her novel Subculture, this is a collection of twenty-one short and not so short stories, originally published in various magazines such as Februs, Janus and Kane. As you might expect then, particularly with titles like Saddle Sore and The Hired Hand, burning female buttocks abound in these torrid tales of corrective discipline and sexual humiliation.'
- Desire, Issue 36, May 2001.

BOL Erotica Bookshelf Reviews

Many thanks to erotic anthologies editor Maxim Jakubowski for the following reviews of Subculture and Corrective Measures:

'The first new novel in ages since her classics for the notorious Nexus imprint from Sarah Veitch, also known as the Queen of CP (corporal punishment). Lisa's work takes her to Malta where she discovers the sinister side of her new employer Dr Landers. He is a very strict disciplinarian. His health clinic is the scene for spankings galore with canes and tawses with expert staff eager to correct or be corrected in painful fashion. An entertaining tale about a particular aspect of the sex scene which many find curiously to their taste.'
- Maxim Jakubowski, BOL Erotica Bookshelf, May 2001.

'Sarah Veitch is one of the most popular writers of Corporal Punishment erotica. This collection of 21 new stories covers the whole gamut of pain as pleasure and demonstrates a wide range of punishment implements and judicious settings. Here, many young men and women, pay at length for their intransigence.'
- Maxim Jakubowski, BOL Erotica Bookshelf, May 2001.

Domina - The World Of Corrective Eroticism

Domina Issue 9DOMiNA magazine issue nine reviews Subculture. There's an impressive amount of reading in this glossy magazine including interviews with Mistress Xena, who wrestles some of her slaves to the ground. Meanwhile, Master James talks at length about his own sexual submissive, the biddable Tracy. And another female sub talks about the perfect session. Last, but definitely not least, there's an insight into the art and thoughts of erotic artist Lynn Paula Russell, whose work also graces the front cover of Palmprint's titles.

DOMiNA costs ten pounds per issue but they offer copies by mail order for eight pounds, cheque or PO made payable to Domina Publishing. These should be sent to Domina Publishing, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3XX.

What Was New In April 2001

Forum For Flagellants

Forum Vol 35 No 2Forum reviews Corrective Measures in their latest issue:

'At the moment, the Palmprint imprint seems to exist solely to put out the work of top CP author Sarah Veitch, but spanking fans won't have a problem with that. Corrective Measures is a collection of 21 punishing short stories, many of which first appeared in mags including Erotic Stories, Janus and Kane.

Among the characters on the receiving end of chastisement here are an adulterous wife who learns the error of her ways in a Dutch house of correction, a student who gets more than she bargains for when she decides to write a thesis on 'erotic subjugation in literature' and a beauty queen who has to pay for her unfortunate accident involving a waterbed and a pair of stiletto heels...

The collection could do with tighter editing in places (one heroine is referred to as 'the 22-year-old' on three consecutive pages), but these are only minor quibbles when the erotic content repeatedly hits the reader's sweet spot.'
- Elizabeth Coldwell, Forum, Vol 35 No 2, Apr 2001.

This issue of Forum also includes flagellation fiction plus features on maid training and wedding sex.

Reasons To Be Cheerful

Kane 85Kane 85 is out now - and includes the Veitch short story A Sitting Target. It's set in a garden centre but there isn't an Alan Titmarsh in sight. This issue also includes Scenes From The Latest Kane Club Live Event plus a feature where the editors Cliff and Josie spend a day with a disciplinary-minded couple.

Kane 85 also contains Sarah's latest problem page in which a couple ask how they can achieve quiet spankings and a man reveals his obsession with small Oriental backsides.

Last but not least the issue contains the following review of Corrective Measures:

'The twenty one tales in this collection give a whole new meaning to the term coming of age. The reader's virtually guaranteed an orgasm with every story. And readers who enjoy lengthier punishments will love the mini-novella in this collection, Re-educating Ruth. It's set in a House Of Correction for adulterous women in Amsterdam - where the unfaithful Ruth and the other beautiful infidels are severely trained and chastised. Ruth tries to outsmart her Dutch masters but regularly ends up with a hungry pussy and a very sore arse.

The titles of many of these stories hint beautifully at what's to come - The Hired Hand, Pretty In Pink, Rump Stake. There's also the lesbian classic Sitting Uncomfortably. Some of the stories first appeared in Kane and other CP magazines but are brought here together for the very first time.

The settings range from a harsh Victorian household to a porn film set. There's even a riding yard that's tailor made for a reluctant pony girl. Each young lady - and two men - behaves badly and is cruelly taken to task.

Sarah Veitch provides everything the reader needs for an arousing and satisfying experience. The cover art, by erotic artist Lynn Paula Russell, is also superb.'
- Cliff James, Kane 85, Apr 2001.

The Genuine Article

Februs 41What were your first experiences of CP? That's the question posed by editor Paula Meadows in Februs 41. Considering how misunderstood the subject is, we suspect that most people's experiences will be with themselves - which is fine as Februs loves to receive letters from readers about their fantasies.

The issue also contains Sarah's article The Real Thing which looks at how society continues to ignore the reality of the sexually submissive woman. And Roy Tersley interviews Tara a model whose boyfriend is too shy to spank her thoroughly.

What Was New In March 2001

Fiesta Forever

Fiesta Digest Vol 2 No 3Fiesta Digest reviews Corrective Measures in its Sex News section. Here's what they said:

'Themes of domination and discipline often feature in collections of erotica and this is no exception. Bringing together 21 short stories, the common thread in nearly every tale is that of naked girls receiving punishment and correction from their male superiors. Whether it's in a dungeon or the home, in grubby Victorian England or in a whorehouse in Amsterdam the stories all have a similar, although enjoyable enough, feel to them. If graphic descriptions of naughty women being whipped and caned float your boat then this is a recommended purchase.'
- Fiesta Digest, Vol 2 No 3, Mar 2001.

Brought To Book

World Book Day was on March 1st and Sarah's publisher Palmprint celebrated it with the launch of their new book Corrective Measures. For details please go to the finger-flexing Palmprint Publications site.

Erotic books seem to be like pandas, a dying breed. Sarah had a very nice letter from a reader who said that prior to reading Subculture he was finding it almost impossible to find arousing male dominant fiction. Most of the novels available were either lesbian or female dominant. This is often due to political correctness on the part of the publisher or the writer and doesn't reflect consumer taste.

As part of this political correctness, some bookstores are no longer hosting a section labelled Erotica. Instead, they shove a few erotic tomes in the bottom corner of Anthologies. Only a reader with a torch and a magnifying glass could find these books. The shop then deduces that erotica doesn't sell and doesn't ever buy in another sexual book.

Yet stores with a clearly marked (grin) erotica section report that books by the more established authors sell well and that they have to re-order (further grin) several times.

Good Timing

Time OutCorrective Measures was reviewed in Time Out, London's top entertainment listings magazine. Here's what they said:

'This is adult fiction for lovers of spanking, though why any working stiff would want more pain and humiliation in their leisure time beats me (oops!). Each story begins with a mistake at work which can only be expunged over the boss's knee. 'Strip from the waist down now, or wave promotion goodbye,' Vincent is told by Alicia Kerr, his superior. In Three Colours Red, Miles is incensed by the stupid girl who puts his red cycling shorts in with his white silk shirt, thereby weakening his sales position on the morrow. 'You ruined hours of work done by tireless silkworms, so it's only right that you be made to wriggle like they do.' In Raising Awareness a trainee manager's coquetry receives something of a setback. 'Was she ever going to grab Gordon Wesley's attention? Jo-Anne simmered with frustration as she crossed the Petroleum Refining Plant.' Answer: She was. 'I'll wear the goggles and earmuffs from now on, sir!' she gasps, over his knee. And he, recommending a mnemonic, utters 'When you think of your soft sore bum you'll remember to wear your hard safety hat.'

There's lots about the temperature and colour of bottoms - toast, roast, sizzling, scarlet spheres, tremulous orbs, glowing globes - and a splendid interlude during punishment in A Pony Tale in which the victim enjoys 'smoked salmon roulade with freshly baked brown bread and lemon wedges'. A husband comes home with assorted tawses, paddles, canes, belts and strops to inform his new bride that this gives a whole new meaning to a girl setting up her bottom drawer.'
- Brian Case, Time Out, Feb 21-28 2001.

Palmprint are getting the book into Waterstone's, Borders and some independent chains. If it's not on sale (and if for some reason you don't want to get it by mail order from Palmprint) then these bookshops will be delighted to order it for you.

What Was New In January 2001

Dream Lover

Februs 40 Februs 40 contains Sarah Veitch's article Wet Disciplinary Dreams about genuine female fantasies. Many of those involve subjugation, men in uniform, handcuffs and even a horse.

This issue also includes the latest in Paul Melrose's detailed Moments In CP History in which he explores the life of Father Cornelius Hadrian who flagellated a naked nun every day. This makes for an arousing fantasy, but unfortunately Father Cornelius was a real man who lived in Brussels in the sixteenth century. He abused his power for many years and, even when revealed, escaped unscathed.

Februs 40 also offers an article by Darren Young about what the web has to offer CP lovers. Plus there's fiction, photo stories, a cartoon and a questionnaire on what readers would like to see in future issues of the mag.

The Third Degree

Sarah's new collection Corrective Measures is published next month by Palmprint Publications. It stretches obediently to an impressive 320 pages and contains twenty one arse-reddening stings-in-the-tail.
